VEGA ARCHTOP GUITAR

SOLD

This is a unique vintage Vega E-400 Duo-tron Arch top hollow body electric or acoustic jazz guitar. Made in the 1940s in Boston, Massachusetts, it had only one owner and has been in storage for some years. Archtops were recently featured on a segment of ANTIQUES ROADSHOW as highly collectible museum pieces.

This double pick up cutaway guitar has chrome plated parts and a sunburst finish. The third photo above is closest to the true color, a honey amber shading into a darker mahogany. The color in most of the photos is the way the Vega looks in bright sunlight. From the photo in the brochure, what is called the tone knob seems to be missing as is the amp cord. (The tone knob has since been found.) There is some minor crazing in the finish. It comes with the original plush lined hard case. It will need strings.

Neck is straight and without damage as far as we can see. We also had it checked by a professional who found no problems. He did say he'd never seen an amp plug like the one on this guitar, and he's seen guitars all over the world.

From the original Vega brochure, which will be included in the purchase: ..."The finest Guitar built in America or the world over today. Only this Vega gives you the distinctive Duo-tron suspended pick ups.

Suspended above and clear of the vibrating top sound board, for far better electric tonal reproduction than any other method. The only Guitar that will give you full tone Two Ways -- with or without amplifier.

17" wide body is selected curly maple, highly polished Honduras Mahogany, fast action neck, pearl inlays, speed frets and adjustable Neck Tension Rod."

This one-of-a-kind rarity is a family heirloom played by our grandfather but it deserves a good home with a talented musician...neither of us can play the guitar...........................................................................................................................$2500.
