This pricing might be considered as a general guideline; estimates will more likely be made once the photo has been seen and what type fix is necessary or what the customer would prefer. Budgets are always a consideration we acknowledge.
Quick-Fix or Minor restoration consists of removing small scratches, minute cracks, spots, dates and simple red eye. It may also involve adjustment of brightness and contrast, darkening and sharpening images that have faded through the years, and restoring color values. Minor retouching does not include work in detailed areas. Facial areas usually are not retouched in this category except for slight marks where there is no detail......................$15-$25.
Basic restoration consists of all the above plus repairs to more highly detailed areas, except the facial area. This category also includes brightening parts of a photo, for instance to bring subjects' faces out of shadow.....................$25-$45.
Moderate restoration includes removal of more noticeable dust, stains and scratches as well as light tears and crackling. Retouching may be done in facial and detailed areas, but does not include rebuilding or drawing. It also includes all that done in the above two categories................................$45-$65.
Major restoration, also called manipulation or enhancement of an image involves extensive retouching. Repair work may involve torn photos in two or more pieces. Portions of the photo might be missing which will mean rebuilding the image. Some sections may have lost so much data to fading or other damage that the restoration actually involves painting a new image or portion of the image. Also included in this category is the manipulation of a figure, for instance, taking off a few pounds, repairing teeth or smoothing out wrinkles........................................................................................................$65-$100.
Severe restoration includes all the above, but over a great portion of the photo. It could include extensive water damage, mold or mildew, fine cracks, folds or tears over a great portion of the picture, or heavy staining or blotching in multiple areas, and heavy ink, paint, pencil and/or crayon marks. Manipulation of figures can range from $25 up. Sometimes we have a little fun with friends (or some who aren't such friends!), but we're also able to take a few pounds off or get rid of a few wrinkles. We like to think of it as hi-tech voodoo!
