biography

Darcy has been a re-enactor for over 20 years, also giving presentations and exhibitions at historical societies and schools. Her knowledge of Native American Life surpasses that of many other historians, even those giving courses in such venues as The American Museum of Natural History in Manhattan NY.

Since each of Darcy's creations is made to order, you'll get exactly what you want - and more - with little surprises adorning her creations.

Darcy has been called a "Master Scavenger", collecting trinkets from yard sales and flea markets and animal bones from woods and by the side of country roads. She has also acquired skins by trading her beadwork at "Rendezvous", fairs first sponsored by the National Muzzle loader Rifle Association (NMLRA), and more recently by the National Rendezvous and Living History Foundation (NRLHF).

These fairs are dedicated to the Re-enactment of American History and the various figures who peopled it. It was after handling genuine antique Indian dolls at a friend's shop that Darcy began making them on her own. Although her dolls are not reproductions, they come close, being inspired by pieces at the American Museum of Natural History and the National Museum of the American Indian (Formerly the Heye Foundation), from original photographs and by old books and art.

Darcy's dolls are close replicas not only of those of the North American Plains, her first interest, but also of the Eastern Woodland Tribes and other groups. She has since expanded her repertoire to include more fanciful designs. Please inquire for pricing.

After years of living at the new Jersey shore, Darcy and her family now reside in Southeastern Pennsylvania.
