VINTAGE POSTCARDS
PHOSTINT
FRED HARVEY'S name was immortalized in the movie "The Harvey Girls", starring Judy Garland - or maybe it was the other way round? At any rate, The Fred Harvey Company still operates the gift stores at a number of National Parks, most notably The Grand Canyon. Although it was bought by Amfac in 1968, and by Colorado-based JMB Realty in 1988, the company still bears the Fred Harvey name.
Below is a selection of cards from about 1925 collected by our great-grandfather on a cross-country journey by train. This selection includes several other types of cards, including white-border cards, dating from the same time period. For the Rail Road buffs, there are three Illinois Central-Panama Limited train cards, in addition to several cards with train stations from Utah, New Mexico in addition to a Canadian Pacific RR station card from Vancouver BC.
In some instances, a card will seem to be missing part of a border; this is only due to placement in the scanner. All white border cards are intact.
